SOYBEAN PRODUCTION IN MATO GROSSO DO SUL SURPASSES PROJECTIONS IN 2022/23

The 2022–2023 soybean production in Mato Grosso do Sul surpassed the previous record of 15 million tons. The successful outcome is due to the state government’s plan for expanding agriculture on deteriorated land. As a result, the planted area increased by 6% and is now 4 million hectares. The average productivity of Mato Grosso do Sul reached 62 bags per hectare, and the projection was 58 bags, according to Jaime Verruck, secretary of the Secretariat for the Environment, Development, Science, Technology, and Innovation (Semadesc). He claims that the state’s increased soybean and corn production is seen in the growth of grain storage facilities.
