SOYBEAN PRODUCTION GROWTH BOOSTS GRAIN CROP, CONAB SAYS

Brazil is expected to produce 309.9 million tons of grain for the 2022–2023 crop. Soybeans will account for 151,4 million tons of the total grain production. Compared to the preceding cycle, which was hampered by poor weather in the years 2021/22, soybean volume is expected to rise by 20.6%. “The damage brought on by the drought in Rio Grande do Sul is the reason why the current estimate is up from the previous cycle but down by 1% from the previous forecast. Gains in Tocantins, Sao Paulo, Goiás, and Mato Grosso do Sul largely offset these losses,” said the president of Conab, Guilherme Ribeiro.
