SOY HARVEST RAISES SHIPPING VALUE BY 11% IN FEBRUARY

When compared to January of this year, the average freight price per kilometer increased by 11% and ended February at R$7.88. The increase was driven by the agribusiness sector, which increased the cost of freight by 27% in the month, and by the beginning of the soybean harvest, which in isolation caused the cost of freight to rise by 10%. This is what data from the Repom Freight Index (IFR) survey point out. In the consolidated 2022, diesel charged 40.45% of the average freight price. As a result of the latest reductions in the price of fuel, at the beginning of 2023, the percentage decreased and the share corresponding to diesel in February’s composition was 37.63%. In addition, on the 17th of the same month, the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) published the new table for the minimum freight floor, with a reduction of -5.72%, as a result of the downward swing in the final price of diesel S- 10.
