Cabotage volumes in Brazil’s Southeast reached 27.1 million tonnes in the first two months of 2026, up 19.1% year-on-year, reinforcing the region as the country’s main coastal shipping hub. Growth was driven by crude oil shipments (21.2Mt) and refined products (1.78Mt), alongside 2.21Mt of containerized cargo. Rio de Janeiro led throughput with 15.8Mt, followed by São Paulo (9.9Mt) and Espírito Santo (1.38Mt). The increase reflects stronger energy cargo flows, fleet expansion and regulatory support under the BR do Mar program, easing pressure on road transport and improving logistics predictability.
