RIO DE JANEIRO TO HAVE FIRST BIOMETHANE FACILITY

Coagro, an agroindustrial cooperative in the state of Rio de Janeiro, ZEG Biogás, a company that provides innovative biofuel solutions, and Porto do Açu, the largest deepwater port-industrial complex in Latin America, have signed a memorandum to establish a biomethane plant with an initial production capacity of 5 million m3 per year. The first studies for the project were initiated by ZEG BIOGÁS in May 2023, and the investment decision is expected to be made in the first quarter of 2024. The plant is expected to begin commercial operations in 2025. The studies considered the implementation of the first biomethane production unit, with an estimated cost of BRL 60 million for completion.
