RICE SHIPMENTS INCREASE 135% IN AUGUST YEAR-ON-YEAR

Rice exports (husk base) in August remained high, as in July. Last month, Brazil exported 268 thousand tons, with revenue of US$ 83.7 million. The result represents an increase of almost 135% compared to August 2021, when shipments totaled 114,500 t, with revenues of US$ 34.6 million, according to the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz), based on statistics from the Ministry of Economy. Exports of the cereal in the year (January to August) reached 1.15 million t, equivalent to US$ 345.5 million. In the same period of 2021, shipments totaled 687.1 thousand t, with foreign exchange of US$ 222.2 million. The main destinations for Brazilian processed rice were Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Cape Verde, El Salvador, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States, Panama and Bolivia.
