PRUMO EXPECTS R$ 15 BILLION INVESTMENT IN PROJECTS AT PORTO DO AÇU

Prumo, the owner of Porto do Açu, is structuring sustainable projects that will total R$ 15 billion in investments through partnerships over the course of ten years. According to the company’s president, Rogério Zampronha, there will be more than five projects, in addition to infrastructure development, aimed at achieving the energy transition. In an optimistic perspective, the executive hopes that the timeframe can be shortened to eight years. According to Zampronha, R$ 5 billion will be allocated to the HBI project, known as green briquette, a product with a very high iron content that allows meeting the demand of steel mills for increased productivity and reduced carbon dioxide emissions in steel production. Another project is a biogas plant, with the first phase estimated at R$ 300 million, and it is expected to have additional stages, as explained during Prumo Day. Another R$ 4 billion will be invested in pipelines to transport gas from the Cabiúnas terminal in Macaé (RJ) to Porto do Açu.
