PORTONAVE RECEIVES LARGEST VESSEL TO EVER CROSS THE COUNTRY

With 335 meters long and 51.5 meters wide, the vessel Rio de Janeiro Express, owned by Hapag Lloyd, docked at the Port of Navegantes (Portonave) on Saturday (29). In terms of capacity, it is the largest container ship operating on the east coast of South America. The vessel has a capacity of 13,278 TEUs and 2,220 reefer sockets, which allows for greater movement of reefer containers used to store refrigerated cargo, such as frozen meat and its derivatives, fruits, beverages, and others. Currently, ships 350 meters long and 48 meters wide can be maneuvered at the Navegantes and Itaja Port Complex, but the goal is to expand this capacity to vessels up to 400 meters long and 59 meters wide in the future.
