PORT OF SÃO FRANCISCO DO SUL REGISTERS A 20% INCREASE IN CARGO HANDLING IN Q1 2024

In Q1 2024, cargo handling at the Port of São Francisco do Sul increased significantly, hitting 4.5 million tons. This represented a 20% rise over the same time in the prior year. Exports accounted for 58% of this amount, with soybeans and corn leading the way. Imports accounted for 42% of the total, with byproducts of steel and fertilizers being the main commodities. March 2024 stood out with 1.6 million tons handled. The Port’s president underlined the significance of investing in infrastructure to keep up with the pace of expansion. By 2023, the port had already hit an all-time high, ranking among Brazil’s largest public ports.
