The preliminary throughput results for March 2023 showed the Port of Santos is on an auspicious trend, with an unprecedented monthly throughput of 15.3 million tonnes. It was the best monthly performance in the history of the Port of Santos, up 1% from the previous record set in the same period in 2021 (15.2 million tonnes). The growth was primarily driven by shipments of approximately 11.7 million tonnes, a performance that exceeded 3% in the same month of the previous year. Solid bulk cargo movement was one of the highlights, which a record of 8.9 million tonnes, an increase of around half a million compared to the previous best mark (recorded in March 2022). The soybean harvest was decisive for the growth of shipments through the Port of Santos. Shipments of the oilseed reached, so far, 6.3 million tonnes, approximately 21% above March 2022.
