PORT OF RECIFE ANNOUNCES A 9.73% CARGO INCREASE DURING MAY 2023

The end-of-month balance of cargo at the Port of Recife boasted positive results: compared to May 2022, the port saw an almost 9.73% increase in its throughput. Some commodities that experienced a considerable year-on-year increase were fertilizers, malt, and ethanol. Ethanol, which saw no movement during May 2022, brought 2,300 tonnes to the Port of Recife in May 2023. Just over 3,000 tonnes of fertilizers were handled in May last year compared to over 9,000 tonnes in the same month this year. The expectation at the Port of Recife is to close the first half of 2023 with even higher figures. Delmiro Gouveia, president of the port, stated, “The calculations, so far, point to a growth of around 25% compared to the first half of 2022.”
