PORT OF PARANAGUÁ’S NEW PULP TERMINAL IS NEARING COMPLETION; THE UNIT IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN OPERATIONS THIS YEAR

The construction of the new cellulose pulp terminal of the Port of Paranaguá, which began in June 2021, is nearing completion and shall finish in the second half of this year. Thus, the first warehouse operation should take place in December. The total investment shall reach R$ 120 million, disbursed by Klabin, a pulp manufacturer, with an industrial unit in Telêmaco Borba, in Campos Gerais. The company acquired the 27,530 square meter area in an auction held by Portos do Paraná in August 2019. The concession agreement was signed in early 2020, ending a two-decade period without new leases in the Port of Paranaguá. The area exploration contract is for 25 years and renewable for another 45 years. The director of Operational Planning, Logistics and Supplies at Klabin, Sandro Ávila, discloses that the construction is ahead of schedule.
