PORT OF ITAQUI SEES 16% THROUGHPUT GROWTH IN 1Q23

The Port of Itaqui achieved a historic milestone in March, recording its best-ever performance with a remarkable 3.11 million tons of cargo handled. This throughput represents a significant 22% increase compared to March 2022, the previous record. The detailed breakdown of cargo types reveals notable growth, with liquid bulk experiencing a 10% surge, solid bulk surging by an impressive 29%, and general cargo showing an 8% rise compared to the same period last year. During the month, several commodities stood out, including domestic derivatives, LPG, caustic soda, soybeans, copper, fertilizers, and cellulose, surpassing the initial plan. Furthermore, the cumulative cargo handling for the first three months of the year reached a remarkable 7.2 million tons, marking a notable 16% growth compared to the same period last year.
