PORT OF ITAQUI CREATES ALLIANCE AIMING TO DECARBONIZE PORTS IN BRAZIL

The Port of Itaqui is spearheading the establishment of a Brazilian port decarbonization partnership modeled after the Spanish Net Zero Mar partnership. The effort aims to bring together ports, businesses, and organizations to debate and encourage the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the Brazilian port and waterway sector. The first meeting was attended by around 35 representatives from various industries. The Port of Itaqui sees this as an opportunity to position the industry against the challenges of climate change, especially with Brazil hosting COP30. The decarbonization plan is set to be implemented by November of this year.
