PARANAGUA PORT RANKS FIRST AMONG BRAZIL’S SOYBEAN EXPORT PORTS

The Port of Paranaguá has ranked first among Brazil’s soybean export ports at the beginning of 2024. According to the Brazilian Foreign Trade data query system (Comex Stat), 37.5% of Brazil’s soybean exports departed from the Port of Paranaguá in January. The Port of Santos ranks second, accounting for 20.9% of the total. In January 2024, state port authority Portos do Paraná saw 1,822,656 tonnes of soy complex goods. Of this total, soybeans accounted for 1,177,616 tonnes, serving as raw material for various products such as soy milk, soy meat, and tofu. Soybean handling grew 202% compared to the previous year (389,123 tons). Soy meal, used in animal feed production, stood second among soy complex exports, with 606,321 tonnes handled, up 118% from 2023 (277,716 tonnes). The third item in the complex is soybean oil. This year, 38,719 tonnes of soybean oil were handled, a value below 2023 (123,287 tonnes).
