PARANÁ TO INCREASE CORN AND SOYBEAN PRODUCTION

The southern Brazilian state of Paraná is expected to increase corn and soybeans, according to the Department of Rural Economy (Deral). The report shows that 402 thousand hectares (58% of the planted area) have already been planted with corn in Paraná. About 28% of this area is in germination and 72% is in the vegetative development phase. Furthermore, 3.9 million hectares are expected to be produced, up 32% from the previous cycle. For soybeans, Deral’s monthly report shows that 21.5 million tons of soybeans are expected to be produced in the 2022-23 cycle. If confirmed, the volume represents an increase of 78% when compared to the previous cycle.
