PARANÁ PROJECTS 3.13 MILLION TONS OF CORN IN THE 2023/24 SUMMER CROP

The Department of Rural Economy (Deral) under the Secretary of Agriculture of Paraná has released a report stating that the area of summer grain crops is expected to reduce by 1% from the previous season. The current projection is 6.25 million hectares compared to 6.31 million hectares previously. Soy is expected to be the major crop, occupying 5.80 million hectares. Corn farmers are likely to sow 317 thousand hectares in the 2023/24 season. The production of the first corn crop in Paraná during 2023/24 is projected to be 3.13 million tons, a decline of 17% from 3.79 million tons in 2022/23. The output of the second crop is expected to increase by 5% over the previous season from 13.27 million tons to 13.98 million tons.
