NORTH BRAZIL CABOTAGE POSTS 1.85 MILLION TONNES IN JANUARY

Cabotage volumes in northern Brazil reached 1.85 million tonnes in January, up 5.8% year on year, according to Antaq. Amazonas accounted for 1.29 million tonnes, followed by Pará with 552,300 tonnes. Bauxite led cargo volumes at 875,100 tonnes, ahead of containers with 576,900 tonnes, petroleum products with 293,700 tonnes, crude oil with 69,300 tonnes, cement with 18,900 tonnes and LPG with 16,900 tonnes. The increase underscores cabotage’s role in supplying the North, lowering logistics costs and linking regional production to domestic markets, supported by regulatory measures under the BR do Mar program.
