MOSAIC INVESTS BRL 400 MILLION WITH AN EYE IN THE MATOPIBA AGRICULTURAL FRONTIER

The area known as Matopiba, a junction of the states of Maranhao, Tocantins, Piau, and Bahia, is the newest agricultural frontier in Brazil. Yesterday, Mosaic Fertilizantes announced a BRL 400 million investment to develop a facility in Palmeirante (TO). In its first year of operation, 2025, the local branch of the American Mosaic Company, which focuses its operations on Brazil and Paraguay, hopes to supply 500,000 tons of goods from the new factory. Moreover, the location will contain a warehouse with a 100,000 tons’ capacity. The target market is a region that is partially supplied by 350 thousand tons of formulas that are now produced in a leased facility in Sao Luis do Maranhao. The multinational owns a facility in Luís Eduardo Magalhães in Bahia. In Sergipe, the company has a potash mine.
