MINISTER SAYS BRAZIL KEEPS ON SEARCHING FOR COUNTRIES WITHOUT SANCTIONS TO IMPORT DIESEL

Brazil is looking for opportunities to import cheaper diesel in all countries currently not under sanctions, said on Friday, July 22, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Adolfo Sachsida. According to Sachsida, his ministry questioned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about which countries are not on the receiving end of international sanctions so that Brazil could buy fuel from these countries. “We are contacting all countries not sanctioned to bring cheaper fuel,” he stressed. The Minister of Mines and Energy informed that the price of the liter of gasoline and diesel should soon go down another 10 cents due to the extension of the deadline for fuel distributors to meet their 2022 decarbonization targets. The decree to postpone the deadlines was issued on the 22nd. These targets refer to the mandatory acquisition of carbon credits by producers of biofuels, mainly ethanol. The cost of this purchase is passed on to consumers.
