The Ministry of Infrastructure (MINFRA) launched the Future of the Port Sector program, which offers a series of initiatives to improve management, ensure the quality of service provided, and modernize Brazilian port terminals. It is expected that the program will intensify the adoption of measures to reduce bureaucracy and to train managers, in addition to investments in technology. The program’s initiatives are organized into pillars. The first is the Regulation Improvement, which focuses on the review and implementation of normative acts promoting legal security, agility, and flexibility of private investments in organized ports. The second pillar is Management Modernization, especially in dock companies and delegated ports. The idea is to improve governance, reinforcing managerial autonomy and decentralization of competencies by implementing strategic goals to obtain better results from the companies. The Training pillar encourages the continuous improvement of managers and workers in the sector. Under the Innovation pillar, logistic intelligence projects are being implemented, strengthening the digital transformation in ports. Port operations should become more efficient, having a positive impact on the logistics sector. This should result in more competitiveness for the country.
