MINAS GERAIS BREAKS RECORD IN SUGARCANE PRODUCTION

Minas Gerais state has set a record in sugarcane output, with an average of 84,829 kg per hectare, or 80.2 million tons, in the most recent harvest. The industry’s official employment growth has also increased by 20% because of this productivity gain. Conab reports that the state is currently Brazil’s second-largest producer of sugarcane, behind São Paulo. This increase is mostly due to favorable weather patterns and advanced agricultural equipment. The benefits of this growth go beyond production and employment to encompass the local economy and sustainable development, thanks to investments in green technologies, such as the generation of biomethane.
