MATO GROSSO SURPRISES BRAZIL BY BREAKING A HISTORIC RECORD AND BECOMING THE COUNTRY’S LARGEST BIODIESEL PRODUCER

Mato Grosso has reached a historic milestone in the biofuels sector and reinforced its leadership in Brazilian agribusiness, establishing itself as the country’s largest sustainable energy powerhouse, driven by the growth of biodiesel and corn ethanol production. In March alone, biodiesel production increased by 16.90%, reaching 228,360 cubic meters, the highest volume ever recorded in the historical series. As a result, Mato Grosso now accounts for approximately 26% of all biodiesel produced in Brazil. Part of this growth was driven by the adoption of the mandatory B15 blend, which raised the biodiesel content in diesel sold in the country to 15%. Another decisive factor is the use of soybean oil as the main raw material for biodiesel. According to data from Imea, approximately 84% of production uses soybean-derived products.
