ITAPOÁ PORT RECEIVES LARGEST SHIP EVER TO DOCK IN ITS HISTORY

On Friday, November 11, the Port of Itapoá received the largest ship in its history. With 347m in length overall (LOA), the Singapore-flagged APL Yangshan by American President Lines. The vessel is 45.20 m wide and has a capacity of 10,960 TEUs. The arrival of ever larger ships is a new reality, according to the operations manager of the Itapoá port, Thiago Santos. “We have very good operational conditions to receive these vessels, thanks to our structure and organization, the excellent navigation conditions in Babitonga Bay, and the high level of port pilotage that serves us,” he explained. Vessels over 300 meters in length account for more than 50% of the terminal’s operation, including simultaneous operations and maneuvers in the access channel.
