IMPORTS OF BRAZILIAN SOY BY CHINA SURGE 71% IN OCTOBER

The imports of Brazilian soy by China surged by 71% in October, reaching 4.81 million tons, driven by attractive prices due to a record harvest in Brazil. Chinese purchases from the U.S. plummeted dramatically to 228,264 tons, altering the usual trade pattern. The total Chinese soy imports in October were 5.16 million tons, reflecting a yearly growth of 21%. In contrast, U.S. imports decreased by 1.8%, totaling 18.78 million tons in the first ten months of 2023. Additionally, China imported 1.8 million tons of Brazilian corn in October, highlighting the significance of Brazilian agricultural products in the Chinese market and the shifts in global agricultural trade dynamics.
