GOVERNMENT MAINTAIN 30% REDUCTION IN ICMS FOR FERTILIZERS

The National Council for Farm Policy (Confaz) approved on 03/04 the renewal of the term of Agreement 100/97 to December 2020. Agreement 100 provides that states reduce the ICMS calculation base for fertilizers and seeds in 30% and pesticides by up to 60%. The measure favors the competitiveness of the State’s agribusiness and was a claim of Semagro (State Secretariat of Production) and the Ministry of Finance of MS. The decision was taken at a meeting held by videoconference that involved Finance Secretaries from the 26 states and the Federal District. Agreement 100 was effective until April 30, 2020. “It was approved under Confaz, but in the State Sefaz and Semagro had been taking action in this regard. This extension is very positive for the country’s agribusiness at the moment, ”said Secretary Jaime Verruck. “The extension of agreement 100 had an impact on the costs of agribusiness, so it is essential at this moment, and we achieved it there with the support of Aprosoja and Famasul. Regardless of the coronavirus, this negotiation was already underway and is very important to maintain the competitiveness of the agribusiness in Mato Grosso do Sul and nationally ”, he evaluated.
