The price of hydrous ethanol registered the most intense drop among fuels in the second week of May, reaching its lowest level since 2026, amidst the advancement of the sugarcane harvest in the Center-South of the country and the consequent increase in the supply of biofuel in the domestic market. Compared to the last week of April, the price per liter of ethanol fell 3.83%, to R$ 4.48 on average nationwide. During the same period, regular gasoline and S-10 diesel showed more moderate reductions, of 0.27% and 1.27%, respectively. Since the peak observed in mid-April, the national average price of ethanol has fallen by about 7.0%, from R$ 4.82 to R$ 4.48 per liter, an accumulated reduction of R$ 0.34 per liter.
