CORN EXPORTS FROM BRAZIL’S NORTHEAST TRIPLE IN VALUE, SURPASSING NATIONAL LEVELS

Corn exports from Brazil’s Northeast region have surged in the first five months of this year. The value of exports climbed 323% from USD 89.8 million to USD 379.8 million, while the volume increased by 310% from 317.3 thousand to 1.3 billion tons. This growth has surpassed national levels. Algeria, Colombia, and South Korea are the region’s top purchasers, while the states of Bahia, Maranhão, and Piauí are the top exporters. This increase in exports is attributed to strong demands, attractive external prices, record harvest, and improvements in logistics. Banco do Nordeste finance for corn production has already reached BRL 1.4 billion by 2023, helping boost production chains and reduce production costs.
