Brazil is expected to produce 4.5 billion liters of corn ethanol in the 2022/23 season, up 31% from 2021/22 (3.43 billion liters) and up 7% from the last forecast, according to the National Corn Ethanol Union (Unem). The volume of corn processed to produce the biofuel is expected to rise 30%, from 7.98 million tons to 10.38 million tons. “With the revision of the projections, corn ethanol should increase its participation in the total production of the biofuel, going from 12.5% to 15%”, said the entity in a statement. Unem also quotes a survey by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) which estimates the production of corn bran at 2.53 million tons for the season, up 36% when compared to the previous season; while corn oil production is likely to increase by 43%, to 164.7 thousand tons.
