CONSORTIUM CONDUCTS FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE EXPANSION OF THE PORT OF NATAL

A consortium contracted by the National Transport Confederation (CNT) began studies to verify the technical, economic and environmental feasibility of building “Porto Potengi”, a project for a new port complex on the left bank of the Potengi River. The first stage of the study should last at least six months and will be carried out by a consortium led by Dux Consultoria, a company with extensive experience in projects of this nature. The Porto Potengi port complex foresees the recovery of the estuary’s mangrove, which is mostly degraded already; the recovery of the Ribeira district; the construction of a third bridge over the Potengi River, and the creation of a direct connection, by rail branch, between the Port, the Airport (cargo hub) and the Export Processing Zone – ZPE.
