CONAB FORECASTS THE 2022/23 CORN CROP AT 125.5 MILLION TONS

The forecast total production of corn, an important second crop (winter) crop, is 125.5 million tons, an increase of 12.4 million tons from the harvest in 2021–2022. Despite the climate issues experienced in Rio Grande do Sul, the first corn harvest, planted on 4.4 million hectares, produced over 27.05 million tons, an 8.1% increase over the previous harvest (25.02 million t). A harvest of 96.14 million tons for the second crop is expected, an increase of 11.9% over 2021/22 (85.89 million t). According to Conab, the winter crop (offseason) has already been sown and 74.4% of crops are in the blooming and grain-filling stages.
