CODERN PORT AUTHORITY REQUESTS BRL 10 MILLION FOR DREDGING THE PORT OF NATAL

On May 25th, the president of Rio Grande do Norte’s port authority CODERN, Nino Ubarana, took part in the State Plenary of the Federal Government’s Pluriannual Plan (PPA) in the capital city, Natal. The event was attended by the Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, the Chief Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Márcio Macedo, and Governor Fátima Bezerra. During the plenary, CODERN’s president asked Minister Tebet to allocate around BRL 150 million in the Pluriannual Plan for dredging the Port of Natal. The port’s access channel and basin were last deepened in 2012 to a depth of 12 meters, but due to the lack of maintenance, the Maritime Authority currently allows a maximum depth of 10 meters.
