CITY OFFICE CONTROL OVER PORT OF ITAJAÍ EXTENDED FOR UP TO TWO YEARS

The extension for up to two years of the city hall-based administration of the Port of Itajaí was approved on Thursday, December 1. The act was held at the office of the National Secretariat of Ports and Waterway Transport, in Brasília, at the request of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Waterway Transportation. “The extension for another two years of activities increases our confidence that the Port of Itajaí will keep its gates open to operate cargo and expand its reach,” says Fábio da Veiga, superintendent of the Port of Itajaí. The Itajaí Port Complex moves more than 70% of Santa Catarina’s trade and almost 5% of the national exchange. It is also the 2nd largest port in containerized cargo in the country, behind only the Port of Santos.
