CHINA IS THE MAIN DESTINATION FOR SOYBEANS HANDLED AT THE PORT OF PARANAGUÁ

During Q1, the Port of Paranaguá made up 91.8% of soybean exports to China, with handling reaching 3,208,185 tons, up 105% from last year. Paranaguá rose to second place in the national soybean exports to China, with FOB sales worth USD 6.7 billion. Paraná’s ports continue to meet China’s high demand despite smaller harvests in other countries. The state of Paraná remains the biggest soybean exporter and diversifies its product portfolio, keeping its national leadership in animal protein. The state’s overall exports in the first quarter were USD 5.42 billion, topping the southern region in Brazil. Sales to China surged by 71.1 percent, making up 26 percent of total state exports.
