CANE OUTPUT REACHES 610.1 MILLION TONS IN THE 2022/23 CROP SEASON, CONAB SAYS

The 2022–2023 sugarcane crop is expected to yield 610.1 million tons, up 5.4% from the previous year. The result balances the decreased harvest area of the 2021/22 season and shows a comeback in output in the major producing states due to good weather in this cycle, according to Brazil’s Supply Company (Conab). According to Aroldo de Oliveira Neto, director of Agricultural Information at Conab, “national productivity is estimated at 73,609 kg/ha, 6.1% higher than the 2021/22 season, when the climate was even less favorable for the sector,” even though “this crop was marked by low rainfall combined with the low temperatures recorded in the center-south region.”
