Average sugarcane productivity in Brazil’s center-south region increased 13% in April compared to the same period of the previous crop season, reaching 83.4 tons per hectare, the Sugarcane Technology Center (CTC) said in a report released on Monday. Meanwhile, sugarcane quality, measured by Total Recoverable Sugar (ATR), posted a slight increase of 0.5% in April, reaching 112.6 kg of ATR per ton of raw material, according to CTC. The CTC data does not indicate crushing volumes, but productivity growth may provide an indication of the sector’s performance during the month. The crushing of the 2026/27 sugarcane crop, which began in April, started strongly, according to data published for the first half of last month, with processing jumping nearly 20% year-over-year, according to Unica.
