BRAZIL’S ABITRIGO FORECASTS WHEAT PRODUCTION ABOVE GOVERNMENT ESTIMATE

Brazil may produce 10 million tons of wheat this season and not 9 million tons, as the government projects, said the Brazilian Wheat Industry Association (Abitrigo) on Tuesday. During an event of the fertilizer industry, Rubens Barbosa, head of Abitrigo, said investments to increase wheat area and output suggests Brazil, a net importer, can be wheat self-sufficient in five years, faster than the 10 years predicted by the government.
