BRAZILIAN VHP SUGAR EXPORTS UP 24% IN 2024

Brazil’s agribusiness exports reached USD 164 billion in 2024, a record despite a year-end decline. São Paulo led with 18.6% of total exports, while China remained the top buyer. Sugar exports surged, with VHP sugar shipments up 24% to 33.5 million tons, driven by higher demand from Indonesia and the Middle East. However, prices fell 3.6% to USD 476/t. Refined sugar exports rose 12% to 4.8 million tons, with Africa absorbing 70% of shipments. Ethanol exports dropped 24.5% to 1.9 million m³ due to weaker demand from the U.S. and South Korea.
