BRAZILIAN PORTS RECORD OVER 115M TONNES OF CARGO IN JULY

Brazil’s waterway sector moved more than 115.7 million tonnes in July this year, according to the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ). The 4.8% growth compared to July 2022 was driven by increased movement of Iron Ore and Crude Oil, with 34.87 million and 19.94 million tonnes moved, respectively. In terms of percentages, the respective increases were 2.2% and 22.6%. Soybeans took third place in the tonnage podium for the month, with 9.87 million tonnes moved, representing an increase of 26.36% compared to the same period last year. Private Use Terminals (TUPs) recorded 75.83 million tonnes moved in July 2023. This number represents a 6.9% increase compared to the same period the previous year. Organized ports handled approximately 40 million tonnes during the month of July, representing a little over a 1% increase compared to the same period last year.
