BRAZILIAN FERTILIZER MARKET SHOWS MARGINAL DECLINE IN Q1 2023

In the first quarter of 2023, fertilizer deliveries to the Brazilian market reached 8.5 million tonnes, representing a slight reduction of 1.2% compared to the same period in 2022, according to the National Association for the Diffusion of Fertilizers (ANDA). Mato Grosso, the largest state in Brazil’s agricultural heartland, maintained its position as the leading contributor to the market, accounting for 25.1% of the total deliveries during the analyzed period.The national production of intermediate fertilizers experienced a decline in March 2023, with 590 thousand tonnes produced, marking a 10.7% decrease compared to the same month in 2022. Looking at the cumulative results for the first quarter, production amounted to 1.70 million tonnes, representing an 8.8% reduction compared to the same period last year when 1.86 million tonnes were produced.
