BRAZILIAN DEMAND FOR DIESEL REACHES UNPRECEDENT LEVELS

Brazilian demand for fuel increased in the first half, according to Stone X. Diesel sales have hit a record with 30.42 million cubic meters. The demand for gasoline grew by almost 11%, with 19.7 million cubic meters. For Stone X’s market intelligence analyst, Bruno Santos, two factors helped boost demand for diesel in the country. The first was the flow of heavy vehicles, which grew 2.1% from January to July this year compared to the same period last year. The other factor was the recent growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). “This scenario ends up guaranteeing a faster increase in diesel demand”, said Bruno Santos.
