BRAZIL SUGAR, OIL EXPORTS SOAR IN EARLY DECEMBER

Brazil’s year-to-date oil exports soared by the second week of December, with a daily average of 615.7 thousand tonnes, more than double the 257 thousand exported a day in December last year. With that, the country recorded 4.31 million tonnes shipped in the year. In December 2021, Brazil exported 5.91 million tonnes of oil. The daily average of sugar shipments reached 152.6 thousand tonnes until the second week of the month, compared to 84.5 thousand a day in December 2021. The total shipped so far was 1.07 million tonnes, and in December last year, the country exported 1.94 million tonnes of the sweetener abroad. The increase in sugar shipments comes at a time when production in Brazil’s center-south is expanding, and the Brazilian product is in high demand on the global market, with prices favorable to producers. As a result, exports reached a new high in November.
