BRAZIL: SOYBEAN PRODUCTION FORECAST AT 142.05 MILLION TONS, DATAGRO SAYS

The third survey by agribusiness consultancy DATAGRO on the 2021/22 Brazilian soybean cycle confirms the forecast disclosed in July. Brazil went from 39.08 million hectares in 2020/21 to 40.51 million hectares this season. Brazilian farmers are expanding the area planted with soybeans for the 15th consecutive year. Production is estimated at 142.05 million tons. If confirmed, this volume would still be 3.7% higher than last season (136.96 million tons). DATAGRO also points out that the expected area of the summer corn crop in Brazil increased by 4% for the 2021/22 season, from 4.40 million hectares to 4.58 million hectares. The forecast is for 3.13 million hectares in Brazil’s Center-South region, which is 5% higher than the 2.99 million hectares of the current year. In Brazil’s North/Northeast regions, the planted area is expected at 1.45 million hectares, up 3% from the 2020/21 cycle (1.41 million hectares).
