BRAZIL INCREASES SUGAR EXPORT VOLUME IN JANUARY, BUT RECORDS DROP IN CORN

Brazil’s sugar exports in the first four weeks of January surpassed the total for January 2023, according to data published this Monday, 29th, by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex). Shipments of the sweetener totaled 2.7 million tons in the month, compared to 2 million in the same month last year. On the other hand, corn is an exception among the main agricultural commodities, heading towards a fall in January, despite volumes of almost 4.6 million tons, according to data from Secex. This reduction in the annual comparison would happen after record shipments in 2023 and with the domestic market more competitive than exports, exporters previously said.
