BRAZIL EXPECTED TO HARVEST 296.2 MILLION TONS IN 2023, IBGE SAYS

The agricultural harvest in 2023 is expected to total 296.209 million tons, a 12.6% increase over the 2022 result, or 33.1 million tons more. If confirmed, it will be yet another record-breaking harvest. The figures come from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics’ (IBGE), which released on Thursday (12) the final Agricultural Production Forecast. Regarding the second forecast, which refers to November, the projection for agricultural grain production in 2023 has been adjusted slightly upwards, with a 0.8% increase, or 2.2 million tons more. Producers in Brazil are expected to plant 75.256 million hectares in the 2023 agricultural season, a 2.7% increase over the area harvested in 2022.
