BRAZIL AND INDIAN TO DEVELOP ALLIANCE FOR BIOENERGY AND BIOFUELS

Brazilian Energy Minister, Bento Albuquerque, paid an official visit to the Republic of India on 19th April. India is Brazil’s fifth trading partner and an important source of investment for Brazil’s energy sector. Oil is the most important product exported by Brazil to India (42%), while fuels represent around 20% of the imports from India, especially diesel oil. The minister Bento Albuquerque and India’s Minister of Oil and Natural Gas, Hardeep Puri, acknowledged the potential for collaboration between the two countries and committed to enhance their partnership, bringing together two of the largest democracies in the developing world. Both countries have industrial and technological capabilities, vast natural resources, and particular potential in the international energy agenda. Brazil and India also committed to strengthen cooperation between the private sugar-energy and automotive sectors, in order to consolidate their domestic and international market for sustainable biofuels, and flex-fuel and hybrids vehicles.
