BRAZIL: 90 FIRMS CLEAR TO EXPORT CORN TO CHINA

In the first two months of 2023, the Brazilian agriculture ministry (Mapa) approved 90 new Brazilian firms to export corn to China, bringing the total number of approved companies to 446. According to the Secretary of Agricultural Defense, Carlos Goulart, the outllok for this year calls for record-breaking corn exports from Brazil, with the chance that they may surpass those from the United States. Brazilian corn exports in January this year increased 167% over the same month the previous year, with China consuming 15% of Brazil’s supply. Last year, Brazil’s top corn consumers were Iran, Japan, Spain, and Egypt.
