BIODIESEL PRODUCERS CAN OFFER MORE THAN 1.2 BILLION LITERS IN 45 DAYS

Biodiesel production can reach about 1.2 billion liters in an estimated period of 30-40 days to avoid risks of diesel shortages in Brazil, as pointed out by Petrobras and other economic agents. This should grant government authorization for increasing the biodiesel blend from 10% to 12% (technically called B12). “Expanding biodiesel production results in energy security for Brazilians. We defend this proposal joining forces with the government against the fuel crisis. It is important to point out that the extra biodiesel will replace the portion of the imported diesel, which is more expensive than national one”, said the federal deputy Pedro Lupion (PP-PR), president of the Mixed Parliamentary Biodiesel Front (FPBio). In addition to reducing pollutant emissions, higher contents of biodiesel will reduce the dollar spent on fossil diesel imports.
