ASIA AND AFRICA HAVE GROWTH POTENTIAL FOR SUGAR CONSUMPTION, SAYS STONEX

Global sugar demand has grown 1.1% per season over the past 15 years and is projected to reach 178 million tons (white value) or 193.6 million tons (gross value) in the 2024/25 season, according to StoneX. While developed regions like Europe, Oceania, and the Americas show declining per capita sugar consumption due to shifting dietary habits and population trends, emerging economies drive global growth. Europe’s consumption drops 0.9% annually, Oceania 2.2%, and the Americas 0.2%. In contrast, Asia grows at 1.1% and Africa at 2.2% annually, reflecting rising industrialization and access to processed foods.
