ANTAQ OPENS PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON PARANAGUA’S ACCESS CHANNEL CONCESSION

The National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) conducted Public Hearing 07/2023 to gather input on the concession of access to the Port of Paranaguá (PR). ANTAQ’s Director-General, Eduardo Nery, emphasized the significance of the pioneering initiative to grant access to the port. The aim is to streamline the expansion and widening of the channel to accommodate larger vessels. The proposed contractual period is 25 years, extendable up to 70 years. The deadline for contributions to the concession tender is November 22. The project involves deepening, expanding, and widening the channel, widening the evolution basin, and deepening the anchorage area to attract larger ships. The future concessionaire will be responsible for investments in dredging, rock removal, nautical signaling, and environmental monitoring. The estimated Capex is R$ 1.07 billion, Opex is R$ 2.35 billion, and the overall gross revenue is R$ 8.85 billion.
